Along with FSC® certification we have Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certification too, registration PEFC CoC no. SAI-PEFC-1615664. The dual endorsements benefit our customers in that we’re able to offer them a wider choice of responsible paper grades.
Ball & Doggett’s PEFC certificate
What is PEFC?
PEFC is is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 1999. Based in Geneva, Switzerland that seeks to transform the way forests are managed both globally and locally. It is dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management, through independent third-party certification.
PEFC accredits organisations (like Telarc) who offer certification to forest managers, manufacturers and others (like us at Ball & Doggett), that meet these standards and who use or produce wood-based products that are PEFC certified. Other benefits include:
- A multi-stakeholder processes. PEFC have developed unique sustainability benchmarks to ensure international compliance with sustainable forest management in a way which balances the interests of all stakeholders, ensuring that no one interest dominates and is tailored to local priorities and conditions.
- The PEFC eco label provides recognition to customers and consumers that support the growth of sustainably managed forests with the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.
- With about 30 endorsed national certification systems and more than 230 million hectares of certified forests, PEFC is one of the world’s largest forest certification system.
PEFC product labelling
The requirements for PEFC product labelling are not as tightly governed as FSC, but are equally as strict. If you’re using a PEFC certified paper yet the printer is not PEFC certified, the use of PEFC labels, logos or wording is not permitted on your publication. As an alternative, the company may apply for a one-off logo usage of the PEFC logo, which allows the use of a logo for ´off-product´ promotion. If an environmental tagline for your publication is desired instead, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
